Learn how to draw using pen and ink, then wash in with watercolours to create a beautiful work of art. The main painting in this course features the quaint Bridge House in Ambleside.

Watercolour is a wonderful medium that, when done right, can create great paintings, and when I say right I mean clean washes laid down with confidence and not overworked. This takes experience, and in other courses I will take you through this medium and show you great methods for achieving good watercolours.

This course though is an introduction to watercolour washes via a pen and ink drawing. The idea is to produce a light, quirky drawing then float in wonderful washes of watercolour to pull the drawing together. I will show you how to create a vignette so that your painting fades out at the edges.

In this course we will cover the following:

  • Materials including paints, paper, and brushes.
  • Types of pen to use for your drawing.
  • Full demonstration of The Bridge House in Ambleside.
  • Extra videos with other examples of this medium.
  • Some downloadable PDF files regarding watercolours.
  • A photograph of my original painting for you to use.
  • A video of how to present your finished work, and make prints to do extra paintings.
  • My email if you need help, and you can send me your finished painting for more advice.

There are over 30 videos in this course for you to try, and they are yours forever.

Eric’s classes are brilliant, good for the soul! Also a great learning environment, his teaching style is relaxed but informative. The subjects painted are chosen to extend our comfort zones. New skills and techniques are incorporated into most lessons, which include the use of professional colouring pencils and ink pens.
